A work-in-progress document has no year associated with it. This is highlighted by the symbol :: following the author's name. The document version is shown.

>   A work-in-progress document is under construction when it has been modified since the last version attribution. The version attribution occurs when the document has been changed and the index updated (see ui command in [1]).
