Distinctly different occurrence rates are observed at the two stations. especially in the early post-sunset hours. Over Cachoeira Paulista the spread-F occurrence rate at 20 and 21 LT increased by approximately a factor of 3 from low to high sunspot years and starting from 22-23 LT this rate of increase diminished and even showed an inverse dependence with sunspot number towards early morning hours. Over Fortaleza, on the other hand, the spread-F occurrence rate in the early post-sunset hours remained very high, 90-100%, during 20-21 LT, with no variation from solar minimum to maximum epochs. The spread-F occurrence rate that appears to be nearly independent of sunspot number remained high up to midnight and fell towards morning hours. These results are interpreted on the bases of solar activity control on plasma bubble generation and its vertical rise velocity and F-region dynamo electric field. %8 Aug.-Oct. %N 8-10 %T Solar cycle related range type spread-F occurrence characteristics over equatorial and low latitude stations in Brazil %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress jsobral@dae.inpe.br %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress inez@dae.inpe.br %K range type spread-F, solar activity, equatorial stations, low latitude stations, Brazil. %@secondarytype PRE PI %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup banon %@usergroup jefferson %@group DAE-INPE-BR %@group DAE-INPE-BR %@group DAE-INPE-BR %@group DAE-INPE-BR %@secondarykey INPE-3024-PRE %F 2446 %@issn 1364-6826 %2 sid.inpe.br/iris@1905/2005/07.28.03.59 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@project FNDCT (FINEP-130/CT). %B Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics %@versiontype publisher %P 901-905 %4 sid.inpe.br/iris@1905/2005/07.28.03.58 %@documentstage not transferred %D 1985 %V 47 %@doi 10.1016/0021-9169(85)90065-0 %O Reunião anual da Sociedade brasileira para o progresso da Ciência, 31; ISEA, 7, jul., 1984, São Paulo. %A Abdu, Mangalathayil Ali, %A Sobral, Jose Humberto Andrade, %A Nelson, O.
